All baby cribs that are manufactured in the United States must comply with strict safety standards and guidelines. These standards are continually updated based on new information. Cribs produced since 1974 meet certain safety requirements. But when security is under constant review there have been updates to the standards through the years since.
There are many memories of baby cribs and baby products through the years. Recalls happen when there has been significant evidence that a specific function in a crib is unsafe and may cause imminent harm to a baby or child. Sometimes many accidents have occurred to create a crib recall.
Each parent must be sure that crib is safe for their child before buying it. You can not just an inspection tag or sticker, showing that the crib meets current safety standards. While this tag is a start, it's certainly not the end of your obligation to keep your child safe. In addition to checking for crib recalls as a parent, you must continue to inspect the cot when it is applied. Check at least monthly for stability. Make sure that no hardware is loose or missing, which may pose a choking hazard for infants. Make sure all slats of the crib to ensure that none is loose. Feel slats to ensure that there are no sharp edges. Control mechanism on the sides any cribs that lead them to ensure that they function properly and that they can not be pushed down easily.
Recalls children's beds must always be taken seriously. May not assume that the recall does not apply to your situation. Instead, be proactive by writing down the specific model number and date of purchase and the manufacture date for your baby cradle. Keep this handy for future reference. If there is a recall always find out what the recommended procedure for fixing the problem. Sometimes it gives a Retrofit kit free of charge, which will remedy the problem.
